The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched an official application for Aadhaar cardholders for Android smartphones. The app is free to download and is named as ‘mAadhar’. It is can be downloaded from Google Play Store.
The application enables users to store their Aadhaar card virtually and carries demographic information like name, date of birth, gender and user’s photograph that is linked with one’s Aadhaar number.
Once the app is installed on your device, open it and it will ask you the Aadhaar number. Then, the app would send a One Time Password (OTP) on your phone. Then, the app will ask you for certain permissions and the app will ask to create a new password. Once it is done, it will take you to the home menu, where one can see his/her Aadhaar card. In order to open it, you need to enter the password, you created before and you will be able to see a digital copy of your Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar cardholders can now store and carry their demographic information anywhere on their smartphone, thanks to the launch of mAadhaar mobile app for Android by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The app is available as a free download on Google Play Store.
UIDAI launches official ‘mAadhaar’ app for Android: Will your smartphone support it?
The mAadhaar is a tiny app (10.80MB) which acts like a repository of Aadhaar cardholder info including Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Addimgs along with the photograph as seen in the Aadhaar card.
Some of the basic featuimg supported by mAadhaar include biometric locking/unlocking, Sharing of QR code, Time-based One-Time Password generation and eKYC data along with Aadhaar profile download.
As the Aadhaar cardholder info is available in the digital format, it acts as a substitute to the hard copy of the card. Using the mAadhaar app, users can generate an updated view of the profile, besides retrieving accurate demographic info from it instead of using manual entry.
